I am running for Cook County Assessor to make property taxes fair, predictable, and affordable. I hold an undergraduate degree in economics and an MBA in finance from the University of Chicago, and my professional experience spans finance, real estate, retail, and wholesale, including managing a residential building here in Cook County, so I know the property tax system from the taxpayer's side. I have lived in Chicago, Evanston, and overseas, and today I call Hyde Park home, where I serve as the elected Libertarian Committeeperson for the 5th Ward. In 2022 I ran for this same office and earned more than 200,000 votes while spending less than $1,000. My signature proposal is simple: cap property taxes at 1% of purchase value, base assessments on real transaction values instead of flawed computer models, and bring down Cook County's $19 billion tax levy.

The Assessor's computer-assisted mass appraisal models produce flawed results that homeowners can neither understand nor verify. Assessments should be grounded in real transaction values so every property owner can see exactly how their assessment was calculated and trust that it is fair.
Cook County government should answer to residents, not political machines. I support term limits for elected officials, fair media access for independent and third-party candidates, and exploring citizen-led approaches like sortition to bring everyday people into public decision-making.
